IELTS exam courses
This course will equip students with effective skills and strategies needed to undertake the IELTS test with confidence. The course also provides material for practice in all areas of the test.
COURSE OUTLINE: The full-time course also includes General English classes that complement the IELTS Preparation classes. Listening: Skills and Strategies for testing include extracting information from texts of varying lengths e.g. university lectures, radio interviews, radio documentaries, conversations; learning what information to look for and what to exclude. Speaking: providing information in a formal interview context; giving an extended talk on a given topic; taking part in a formal discussion; giving a formal presentation/report. Grammar: language required for describing graphs and diagrams including comparatives and superlatives, the passive voice. Vocabulary Topics: develop vocabulary connected with the most common IELTS topics, such as the Environment, Science & Technology, Health, Energy, Education, Transport, The Arts, Media, and Urbanisation. PLACEMENT AND ASSESSMENT: Students sit a comprehensive written and oral placement test on their first day to place them in the class most suitable for them. Assessment is continuous throughout the course; students are formally tested and receive regular feedback from their course tutor.
International Foundation Programme
Our English language Foundation Programme runs all year, we are able to offer English for young learners from the ages of 5 – 14 within our specialised programme, preparing students for entry into mainstream schools in Malta. How do we do this? Our teachers are invested in student’s learning, interested in their progress, and support them every step of the way in their success based learning. We are a student centered school, we offer lessons which are content based – not just language based – this motivates students in their learning – we teach English for Mathematics, English for Science, English for Art, Physical Education in English and other specific content based programmes.
