Introduction to Computer Systems

This module addresses the development of practical skills in the configuration, maintenance, fault finding and troubleshooting of modern computer systems and develops knowledge of computer architecture.

Progression

Upon completion of this module (equivalent to 7.5 ECTS credits), you will receive a certificate from NCC Education in the UK. Following this course, you are also able to complete your diploma in Computing (MQF Level 5). The whole diploma consists of 8 modules these are:

Skills for Computing, Computer Systems, Computer networks, Designing & Developing Websites, Software Development Techniques, Designing & Developing Object-oriented Computer Programs, Databases and Office solutions Development.

Web Design & Photoshop

This course covers introduces the basic concepts and practical skills in website design by providing a detailed understanding of mark-up languages, style sheets, design techniques and testing using HTML and CSS Languages.

The main aspects of this course are:
Prototyping – Making use of mockups to build a prototype of a website that serves as the starting point in modern web design.
HTML – defining the markup required to convert the prototype designed earlier on into an appropriate HTML5 document together with all the elements required within modern web design.

Photoshop – Learn Photoshop and how to make use of its most popular features including advanced selection techniques, layering and masking to obtain interesting visual effects helpful in graphical compositions.

Databases

Provides thorough training in practical techniques for the design and development of database systems and also develops a sound understanding of the underpinning theory. The Module will be heavily based on SQL which is a domain-specific language used in programming and designed for managing data held in a relational database management system.
